Smoke removal in wood furniture

I've found leather cleaner(or anything like Armor All, furniture polish that can be used on leather) and then spray with vinegar (didn't hurt finish at all, but wouldn't do all the time) helped. Cloth is a nightmare...deep cleaning using shampooer with deoderant type detergent was what b/f used. May have to repeat.
Wood furniture, not sure...good luck!
