I purchased some speaker wire from Best Buy that is as flat as paper. It has a sticky backing to it, and I believe it can be painted and wallpapered over. It is more expensive than regular wire, but worth it if you don't want the other alternatives. They also sell connections that are flat so you can turn corners.
