tiling a bathroom

I am re-doing my bathroom and I am now in the process of putting up drywall (greenboard).

Since I want to tile the bathtub area, I would like to know which is better, to tile all the way up to the ceiling, or stop about 6-8 inches from the ceiling - or just under the shower head?

I've been told to do both but I just don't know. Any suggestions are appreciated.
