cutting formica

I am an experienced do it yourselfer but this is my first
time with formica. I am building a vanity/dressing table
for my wife and found a counter top to fit the bill. Problem
it is too long and needs to be cut. I only want to do this
once so I need some advise on cutting formica to prevent
chipping, etc.
