current leak GFI

You have effectively eliminated the possibility of a defective cord or outlet. It sounds like thee is a current leak or short in the pump. Easiest and safest thing to do is replace the pump. Its possible the housing developed a crack or leak and allowed water to enter the sealed electrical components. The GFI is doing its job protecting you from current.
