Yes, yes and yes. Your tool is not powerful enough, find a wrench, and the 4" screws are overkill. Length is good, but something shorter would do.
Overkill is almost always better than underkill, and you aren't oversized to the point of causing a problem. I would stick with your plan, but put a ratchet on the lags for the last few turns.
