airborne fiber

In professional abatement, ventilation is used to provide air changes that carry airborne fiber through filters. This effectively vacuums airbore fiber from the work area. In an uncontrolled work area, ventilation can be provided by exhaust fans or normal air currents. Eventually any airborne fiber does either settle or ventilate. You know, its odd that even in the presence of massive contamination we often find airborne fiber content (passive testing) is not as high as we would expect and is sometimes not detectible. I suspect that asbestos does settle fairly rapidly in an undisturbed area, but can become airborne again with activity, sweeping, vacuuming etc.

Your concerns could be addressed by establishing some exhaust ventilation and use a HEPA filtered vacuum equipment to completely clean the surfaces in the home. May not be perfect, but should address stray contamination including pre and post abatement.
