cleaning ink from leather

I read this column for ways to get ink off my leather chair. None worked very well, if at all. And the last idea, fingernail polish or acatone RUINED my leather chair. It removed the color and damaged the finish. I have tried to fix this, but it isn't working. I would remove this advice from the site before anyone else ruins their leather item!
