you should have no problems with the 12 volt if the battery is charged. you are only going to drillo a very small hole for the screws. i would us #6 or #8 sheet metal screws 1" long. use a drill bit slightly smaller thatn the smaller part of the screw. 1/16 to 3/32 should do the job for you. make sure you are in the center of the stud to get best support. it helps if you have a stud finder to locate the studs.
