I took down the light fixture in my livingroom and found that it was actually wired to the cut off end of an extension cord, which in turn was plugged into a light fixture directly above it in my attic. I was thinking of installing a proper junction box where the light in the attic is and running electrical down to a ceiling fan box for the livingroom. Is this possible, and if so is it a very complicated procedure? I have worked a lot in residential construction, but not with the wiring. Advice?
