Bathroom vanity is square, walls are not !!!!!

I am installing a vanity and top in my bathroom. The vanity will be in a corner. My problem is that my walls are not at a true 45 (whos are !!) I can set the vanity against the back wall, but on the side there is a wedge shaped gap between the wall and the side of the vanity top. I will be installing a splash guard that matches the vanity top, so I need to have the walls as true as possible. The vanity and top were bought at HD (box units). I was thinking about using a compass to scribe a line on the vanity top that follows the angle of the side wall and use a router to remove the material. Will this work? Does anyone have any suggestions? I am not a pro,I am just trying to feel my way through this. Thanks.
