tyvec or not? NOT

I live in the Gulf South and if I had a choice of Tyvec or a different wrap I would not go with Tyvec. I would go with a reflective insulation as a home wrap. Tyvec does not offer an R-value. Tyvec is not a moisture barrier, not a reflective barrier, and does not stand up to the elements. It disintegrates as time passes, as I have seen first hand. A reflective insulation provides all the above and will last the life of your structure. Something to think about.
