the back splash will cover the gap if the wall corner is less than 90 degrees. if it more than 90 the backsplash will cover the top but there be a gap on the front edge cause the top dosent slide all the way againgt the wall. notching the wallboard take 3 minutes and the top will now slid all against the wall. if the angle is not bad you dont even have to cut the wallbord all the wall to the front edge of the top, just to within an inch or so then use caulk.

if you remodel later its not cut you can reuse it.

you can do the same thing with the vanity if you want so you dont screw with filler strips. Yes maybe you call it cheesey, hack builder, but who built it crooked in the first place? Besides, i seen bobs show enough, he probably came up with this method.
