The house next door to me had asbestos had vertical lines in the shingles and that house had been moved here. But most of the houses I see with asbestos are near the oldest part of town on houses built in the '40s or '50s. 1970 is rather late for asbestos shingles, but other parts of the home could contain asbestos.
