I suggest you buy a product called Swirl-Away, and follow the label instructions. This will clean out the hidden pipes on your spa before you dump the water again. Next, it has been my experience that it is difficult , if not impossible to have a clean, clear spa without some careful use of dichlor ( spa chlorine ) . I struggled with these issues for some time before I adopted my current method. With this method the water stays crystal clear, and the only scum I have seen in my spa are several of my daughter's friends. The water stays clear for about six months, and then I change it whether it needs it or not. We put 1-1/2 teaspoons of the 99% dichlor product into a bunch of small plastic canisters. AFTER using the spa we dump one in with the pumps on low. By the next time we use the spa the chlorine is total gone and there is no odor. About once a week , depending on usage we will shock the spa with 3 tablespoons of dichlor. After the shock, you will smell the chlorine, but within 24 hours it is gone. We do have ozone, and I use a mineral product called Nature 2. I think these help tide the spa water over when we don't use it for three or four days in a row, and the water stays very clear without being touched.
Good luck, and sorry for the windy response.
