I went onto that website, and I'm beginning to think that the wire isn't a phone wire at all, although I can't imagine what it is. There are no "pairs" of wires, just three separate red, green and yellow wires inside the gray overcoating. The old jacks that I mentioned have the 4 wires, red, green, black and yellow, connected to an old box. This one I took apart wasn't connect to a box, but an electrical plug. Thanks for your help.
