Air gap overflow

I had this same problem and I found that food and price tags from dishes(cups mostly) had clogged the air gap itself stopping the water from entering the hose from the air gap and spewing out the air gap. I removed the airgap, sprayed water through the tubes and removed all the food and paper particles with tweasers.It drains perfectly now!
