painting steel doors

I worked for a steel door retailer and prefinisher for many years. Once the doors have rusted, there is not much you can do to kepp the rust from returning.

New steel doors must be painted with LATEX paint (per the manufacturer's instructions-they use latex primer) within 30 days of installation. If you follow these instructions, most manufacturers warranty their doors against rust.
