It could be the the receiver - The cause for a remote receiver to malfunction or appear to be defective could be a high wattage bulb. Then check the wattage of light bulbs. The maximum wattage is listed in the hand book. If that doesn't work I would try taking it down - make sure power is off first. Check all the wiring. check the 9 pin connector, and might as well check all the screws, making sure everything is tight. then if all else fails contact the manufacturer by calling the 800 number in the manual, if you don't have it check with the homedepot wher you purchased it - good luck!
