We are selling our house and the buyers wanted a chimney inspection. That's fine, of course, however, we have a stainless seamless liner that was installed when the Buck stove was put in. We figured this was a good idea since the age of the house is about 30 years old. Masonry around the chimney is fine. The chimney guy did say that we should have sealant applied, and they can do it for $250. We feel this is a choice the buyer can make to have done if they want. Is the chimney place just trying to get some business out of this or is this something that is a "necessary?"
