Both are good solutions. I would try ceiling fans first before going to an attic fan. When my wife and I lived in a 2 story condo, we loved our ceiling fan and were able to keep the AC off or set lower because of it.
In our current ranch home, we have an attic fan and it is awesome at getting air quickly circulated as well as exhausted from the home. We still have ceiling fans in almost every room and use them a lot more than the attick fan.
