drywall repair

i have found that just applying drywall compound to the wall creates more problems in that the damaged paper swells and tends to peel off. i first prime damaged areas with oil based primer in spray cans is small area or with brush is very larege ares are involved. after priming, the moisture oin the drywall compound will have no effect on the damaged paper on the drywall
just my opinions.
