I will be installing my first hardwood floor soon and just recently heard that it should be installed across the floor joists and not in the same direction, is this true? I hope not because I was planning on running the boards in the same direction as the joists. I don't know if it makes a difference but I have over an inch and a half of plywood subfloor. Can anybody shed some light on this?
