another hampton bay problem

I just read through this chain. Sounds like lots of problems with these things. Mine works, but only on and off with the wall switch. The fan makes it too cold to use the light in the winter. The remote doesnt work at all. I read something here about a dip switch. Is this something that can turn the fan off?
