Proposition 65 Warnings

The warning you read is prompted by Proposition 65 in California, that requires disclosure of any potential risk from materials containing chemicals in trace quantities. You will find the same warning posted at all gasoline stations, hardware stores, most restaurants, nearly every industrial facility, and so on. Proposition 65 allows a company that fails to make the disclosure to be enjoined in egregious lawsuits, even if the chemical is present in fractions of a percent. The law is so stringent, that the burden of proving a chemical is NOT present, is placed on the manufacturer.

As a result, Proposition 65 warnings appear on nearly every product you buy in Califonia, from deordorant and toothpaste, to paints and solvents. The warning is meaningless because it is placed there to simply avoid a conflict with aggressive trial attorneys, but, it does work for that. Don't worry about it.
