Repainting

It is generally OK to repaint over existing paint, but proper preparation is very important. If your current coat of paint is in good shape and adhering well to the substrate, nothing more than gently sanding to rough up the old paint is necessary. (You could also use Liquid Sandpaper as an alternative to sanding.) However, if you have a peeling issue with the old paint, you must remove the old non-adhering paint prior to applying new paint. You must either scrape, sand or chemically remove the loose paint.
