dw, now check each piece from the 3 joints that don't fit against the pieces that fit well. Check them both for length and angle. I would guess that you may have gotten nervous cutting the long angle on the miter saw and maybe not held the pieces in place while making the cut. You may feel safer putting a block at exactly 90 degrees to the back fence and clamping this next to the blade then moving the cut angle to 67.5 degrees. This means that you will be making a cut of the difference between 90 degrees and 67.5 degrees or 22.5 degrees. It's a little difficult to describe this and I'm not sure how every miter saw can be made to do this so don't try it if you are concerned about this cut but it can be less daunting than making a direct 22.5 degree cut.
