Kevin, You mentioned that you "need" to replace your cabinets. Are they falling apart or do you just want a new fresh look? I repainted my cabinets and they looked brand new. I went to Sherwin Williams and the guys there told me what I needed to do step by step. They recommended I use oil paint, which was a lot of work, but the end result was worth it, not to mention the ease of cleaning them. You can also add molding to your cabinets, or cut out the center of some of the cabinets and replace it with glass, chicken wire, tin, fabric... etc. Good Luck
