** I have a whirlpool dryer and when I push the button in to start it up and than release the button, the dryer stops. If I hold the push to start button in and hold it in, the dryer works fine until I release the button again. What could be the problem as to why it stops. **

If the start switch on the motor isn't just clogged with lint, etc. you may have a defective motor which would then need to be replaced. Dryer motors fail like that all the time, even during the first year warranty unfortunately.
