Roof leakage

Posted by Kel on May 21st, 2004 09:48 PM

I have spot on my bedroom ceiling where water started to seep through today after a heavy storm. The house is basically a "backwards -7" shaped ranch; the leak seems to be in the corner of the "7," and possibly between the roof and the house frame? I say this because there is a window on the wall immediately beneath the damp ceiling area; the window frame was damp all around after the storm, as if water had gotten into the frame. The roof is about 8 years old; and last year we had some flashing repaired. Anyway, How do I best determine the source of this water entry? I plan to contact my homeowner's insurance about the damage, since it seems to have happened as a result of a severe storm; before I do, I'd like to really understand the problem.
