weatherproofing raised flower garden with bench

I just built a raised rectangular flower garden box out of landscape timber that is 28 inches wide with approx 3 ft high flower boxes and a 2 ft planned to be bench in between the boxes. I want to store items under the bench area. I would like to know if anyone has any ideas how to seal the bench storage area from the flower boxes to avoid water problems.
