JT has provided the best possible answer to a wet crawl space fix.
You were very wise to have a licensed home inspector or licensed contractor do a walk through inspection prior to closure. Can you imagine what would have happened had you not done that? As first time home owners, I'd offer this.....be very firm (yet courteous) to the real estate agent that you expect the problem to be fully resolved or you will back out of the deal. I know this sounds a little hard-nosed, but its an approach you must take. And for what its worth, don't buy with your heart, buy with your head. I know thats easy to say, but if the RE agents senses that kind of resolve in you and your husband, I can almost guarentee you the work will get done to your satisfaction.....and quickly :-)
