I’ve just recently remodeled my 343 sq. ft. kitchen. I’m beginning to have some concern about the weight on the floor joist. The house is 105 years old and the joist are in good conditions. The span of the house is about 18’ and the floor joist at set at 16” on center. The joist are 3” x 8”. Please tell me what the general load bearing capacity of such a situation is. I understand the information I’m providing is limited, but I’m just looking for some general idea of the load bearing capacity of such a situation. Currently, the kitchen has almost 10K pounds of construction material and appliances. Please help.
