Not Alcohol

Alcohol is not a solvent for petroleum based roof tar.
If you have a yellow stain, you probably just did not remove all the tar.
Any type petroleum based solvent should work included but not limited to, mineral spirits, paint thinner, WD40, kerosene, gasoline, lighter fluid,... Was this post helpful? Yes: or No:
