Hi, William, ok, your problem is easy to get over,.( with or with out a hammer ) lol. lay your boards down as tight as you can by hand I hope you have taken the skirting off ( plinth) now you wil have some waste off cuts ( I hope) with the off cuts you can cut out wedges, ? they should be about 6-8ins long . when you lay the last board down ( remember to make the floor with masking tape ( painters use it ), fix the tape where the joists are but on the new boards that are already down, ( this is so you will know where the joists are when you fix the last board. now cut the last board about 1/4in from the wall you then insert the wedges and tap then between the wall and your board. when they are tight ( as you want them tobe) nail the board down where you have the tape, It's as simple as that. have fun..
