I have replaced roller hardware on two of my pocket doors. They are six panel doors of near exrterior quality and relatively heavy. After many hours of trying "easy" fixes, my final solution was to remove the moulding on the open side of the rail. I was then able to remove the door and make the necessary repairs. Although it wasn't the first choice it became the only choice. They now work wonderfully.
