color for kitchen counters?

I am changing my kitchen to red and white with red and white tile and red and white curtains. I have oak flooring that is staying. I am replacing the counter tops and I need help with the color. I don't want white. Do I need to stay with the tans to go with the floor or would grays or black be good?
