Garage Construction Posted by George on May 29th, 2004 09:46 AM
Planning to build a 22x24 garage in Chicago, IL. Met with two contractors and both gave me different information.
First suggested that we build with double-wall OS Board, steel structural braces and corners, a steel plate header, perma-jam trim and a 16" gauge steel frame around the service door.
The second recommeded 1/2" plywood, 2 2x12 microlem and bottom plate 2x4 wolmonred, concrete 6-bag mix.
We want to build a quality garage, what materials should be used? Are there any questions we should ask when meeting with the contractors?
Thanks-
George
