house air conditioner

Posted by ron on May 29th, 2004 01:30 PM

We have a ten year old Lennox ac which has been running fine till now, spring of 2004. It cools to a set temperature ok(77) but as it is running you hear an occasional clicking noise, the unit shudders briefly, but keeps on running as before OR it shuts down and tries to restart but can't.
We've made no changes to our wiring or electrical use. The non-programable White Rodgers thermostat is a year old. We have zoned heating and cooling, so the unit cools the second floor.
Nothing has grown up or around the unit to block air flow (its been the same as installed). What is going on and should the unit not be run until serviced?
