I think you are right and it is Masonite/hard board, it is very thin, however my first impression of it was it looked like some sort of glue. I will use heat to take it off the walls, the kitchen is very big. I have what seems like thousands of more tiles to remove from the other walls and behind the countertops. Anyway, thanks again.
