I have a feeling that if Bob Vila saw my proble he would agree. The connection between the downspout and the gutter can be the casue of horrid leaks inside the walls. If copper is not one piece but is folded over at the connection tube(solder is best if not a one peice tube)..leaks can be hard to find.....I have a roofer that lined the gutter and instead of soldering the down spout tube and gutter...throwing/sabbing tar on on clogs and creates pooling....how's that for a female opinion whose granfter was a construction worker...(it's in the genes...never met him).
