if by rawhide you are referring to the untanned cowhide, there is really no product that i have found that has the same properties of rawhide. rawhide was , and still is used for binding wooden parts together withou using any glue. rawhide can be streatched when wet, and when drying, shrinks, acting as a vise or hose clamp on any material it is wrapped around.
