Soldering a leaking tee

preferably you want to use acetylene gas, which burns the hottest. Mapp gas would be ok if you don't have an acetylene outfit. Depending if dirt has gotten in the joint or it has corroded, then you may have to cut out the tee, install a new one and 2 couplings. Always rememeber to heat the fitting, NOT the pipe. Capillary action draws the solder into the joint. It's someimes frustrating to re-sweat an existing joint that has developed a leak. if you have no give in the main pipe, use 2 slip couplings. Slips have no internal stops. This allows you to completely slide the coupling over one side of the pipe, then back over the other half of the pipe where you made your cut. if you need more help feel free to post back.
