I have a side by side frig with cold water and ice dispenser. When my icemaker stopped working but the cold water still worked and was still under warranty, the repairman who came out ask me to completely empty out the freezer compartment. He proceeded to use a heat gun(ie hair dryer) and gently warmed the water tubing in and around the icemaker. Apparently water inside the tubing froze up and blocked the water flow into the icemaker. I now defrost my freezer every year and my icemaker unit still works. Also check for a possible blocked screw-in internal water filter. Hope this helps.
