That was a funny post. The water on the tank is due to the process of condensation, which is exactly the same process done by a duhumidifier. the DIY answer is to buy a dehumidifier, so the dehumidification process on the tank will stop. The dehumidifier will run its coil at about 40F, which is about ten degrees cooler than the ground water in the tank making the air dryer by removing moisture from the air. However, the dehumidifier uses as much electricity as a small window air conditioner.

In short, count your blessings. Empty the tank and put it back on blocks in a tank overflow pan, install a condensate pump and enjoy FREE dehumidification for as long as the tank is there, winter and summer, with no more electricity to use than the little pump for a few minutes once a day.
