In reply to suggestions on websites for info by Joel on June 8th, 2004 12:01 PM [Go to top of thread]

The reason that I didn't specify web sites is that ".com" on the end of many of them. The web is great for many things but there are many other sources of information that are better for other things. One place to start learning how to cast figures is with the model making hobby groups. Plastic modelers do everything from making casts of rocks for scenery to making parts for airplanes and vehicles of all sorts that are not available commercially. If you have a good hobby shop in your area, you might try that. They generally have liquid latex available as well as plaster and a few might stock casting resin. This mill give you some idea of the costs involved as these materials can get pricy.

You might try art supply stores that sell paints, canvases and similar supplies. You are not the first one to think of casting body parts.

Your library should have information on casting and pattern making, both for uses as above and for commercial use. If you are serious about this project and your protest, them you should be serious about doing your homework.
