Did you put a bead of plumbers putty on the bottom of the toilet before you put it in place? Doing that makes for a much better job as the putty slowly hardens a bit to fill any gap but never hardens so much that it will not come off the floor and the toilet bottom.
You might want to remove the toilet, replace the wax ring, put about a 1/2" diameter "rope" of plumbers putty on the bottom of the stool and reset it.
