Potassium chloride has some serious health concerns too, we just don't hear much about them yet. And most of the concerns about sodium are not true but especially when we speak about sodium from a water softener. For each grain per gallon of ion exchange being done, the water will recieve 7.85 mg/l of sodium if the softener is regenerated with sodiumn chloride. Anyone on a low sodium or sodium restricted diet knows how to count their daily sodium intake and will make adjustments if they are drinking and/or cooking with the water. Compared to other food and beverages, the sodium from a glass of softened water is very low.
