Had my hubby construct a pergola for me between house and garage. I asked him to put up the frame and I would install 2 x 6 rafters (is that what you call them?). Originally I was going to just lay the rafters on edge over the joists and toe nail them in. Now I think it would look better if I notched out the 2 x 6's to fit over the joists. Hubby said it's my job. So, how do I notch the rafters? I have 16 notches to make - that's 2 notches on each side of 8 rafters. I can use a skil saw. We have a table saw but I don't use it. Thankss
