Pee Posted by Lee on June 13th, 2004 12:04 AM In reply to Pee Smell by Christine Polete on June 12th, 2004 01:12 AM [Go to top of thread]
Chris and Marty are right on! A black light will also make the pee irradiate(chances are your problem is not limited to one room). Get on your hands and knees after you've been out of the house for a half-day, and check your base boards, the unfinished wood behind and under shoes molding will soak the pee up, and you'll never get rid of it till you shellac the unfinished wood. The best advice I got on this forum was to clean, clean, sand, and encapsulate it or remove it. Been working on a basement for 3 months and have got it isolated to a stairwell, and will take bids next week on replacement of stairwell. You got a tough row to hoe and you'll get to the point you don't trust you own nose. We employ the "virgin nose" method, you invite friends over(who don't smoke or have pets) every two weeks, when they don't smell it, you'll know you've got an area clear. Don't perfume it or air the area out, you got to know its clean and clear or every time it rains for a couple of hours you'll be back at square one. Good luck and post a new message(so it doesn't get buried from all the newest postings) about your results or questions you might have. Many of us have experienced this and its mainly elbow grease, not the $20/gal magic bullet most retailers would hope you fall for. Was this post helpful? Yes: or No:
